Rev. Anna Lifson
Rev. Anna has always been passionate about social justice and working with underserved communities. Her career path has included many different roles– counselor, educator, advocate, community organizer, volunteer coordinator, program manager– but throughout all these experiences she has maintained a passion for “speaking truth to power” and helping people find their own authentic voices. Since much of Anna’s career has been focused on working with people in profound trauma and pain, she relishes the opportunity to be present with marrying couples during their time of profound joy!
As a native of Madison, WI Anna enjoyed living in the Twin Cities during her time as a Macalester student. After several years on the East Coast, she relocated back to Minnesota in order to be nearer to her dearest friends and family (not to mention the hot dishes and the lakes!). When not working or volunteering, Anna can be found reading novels, practicing yoga and meditation and biking around the Cities.
Anna comes from a culturally diverse background, with her father raised in a Jewish family and her mother raised Methodist. Anna herself has explored many cultures and spiritual paths, and has gained a great appreciation and open-mindedness for all traditions. Through many years of classroom study as well as traveling and living in Latin America, she has become fully bilingual and trained in translation and interpretation. Anna would be happy to perform a ceremony entirely in English, Spanish, or a combination of both.
Anna has always enjoyed performing arts, and brings many years of experience as a dramatic performer, vocal musician and public speaker to her work as an officiant. She feels equally at home “on stage” or in a private counseling session, always sharing her unique blend of warmth, wisdom and humor. Though Anna has not been married at this point in her life, her deep sensitivity and attention to relationship-building allow her to understand the joys and challenges that partnered couples can face as they make a lifetime commitment to love and support each other.
Reviewed on Wedding Wire: We were SO thrilled and pleased with Affordable I do’s. Their ceremony planner is so easy to use and made planning our ceremony and vows feel personal and special without having to compose our own vows. They’re flexible and super willing to help answer any questions and make sure you’re comfortable. Rev. Ana Lifson was our officiant and I can’t say enough good about her. So many of our guests came up to us after the ceremony and asked how long we’d been friends for! They were floored when I said we’d only met in person that day and had talked on the phone only a few times. She’s so warm and personable. We took advantage of the ceremony music option, because I wanted a specific song to walk down the aisle to. There were some audio glitches where the music was static-y at first. I wasn’t upset, but Rev. Susan refunded our $100. I don’t think they offer this option anymore, I just wanted to include the story because it shows how genuine they are about making sure your day goes smoothly.
Reviewed on The Knot & Wedding Wire: We spent quite a bit of time looking online for wedding officiants and had amazing results from Perfect Day Ceremonies & Affordable I Do’s. We first spoke with Susan on the phone to help her better understand my finance and I, and what we were looking for in an officiant. She immediately put us in touch with Anna Lifson. We connected with Anna first via email then scheduled a time to meet with her in person, as finding that connection was important to us when choosing our officiant. We truly walked away after meeting with Anna, saying “she’s the one!” – she has such a great personality and truly takes the time to get to know you as a couple so the wedding message makes sense and feels like ”you”. Both Susan and Anna were fantastic during the development of the wedding message. There are many options to choose from to ensure your selection is exactly what you’re looking for. Both were very responsive and helpful with all our questions during the process. We had many guests compliment on how great our officiant was – we ran into some rain during our outdoor ceremony and she adjusted as needed with adding some humor. Our wedding venue even asked for her info to promote to other future weddings. You can’t go wrong with using Perfect Day Ceremonies & Affordable I Do’s and we highly recommend using Anna for your big day!!
Reviewed on “The Knot“: We chose Rev. Anna Lifson who is one of the many officiants working with Susan Lee-Wright to marry me and my partner. Since this was a same-sex wedding we were very particular on who we chose, we were wonderfully rewarded with the presence of Anna. She was just perfect for us and all of our guests just raved about her and how friendly and accommodating she was. Susan was also extremely friendly and helpful as well. I highly recommend Susan, Anna and perfect Day Ceremonies & Affordable I Do’s. Trust they are worth it!!
Dear Anna, We want to thank you so much for being a part of our wedding, we could not have asked for a better person to marry us. All of our guests have been contacting us asking where we found you. They all thought you were so friendly and did a fantastic job, we agree! Our wedding was a huge success and you contributed to that success. Susan, many thanks to you for all your help as well. Anna was definitely the best choice for us!
Dear Anna, Thank you so much for everything this past weekend. We were thrilled with our ceremony and thought it hit the mark! If you need a referral in the future, please let us know. Sincerely,
Dear Anna, I’m struggling to come up with better words to describe how happy Colleen and I are of how things turned out. The best I can come up with is “YOU NAILED IT!!!!” Besides putting together an AMAZING ceremony that completely fits our styles, you managed to get a handle on the weather gods and provide us with a window in between showers to make our outdoor wedding possible. And even when we had to cut the ceremony short because of the imminent rain, you manage to masterfully wrap up the ceremony in a way that no one noticed it was cut short. Once again, thank you very much for all the care and effort you place on making our day special. You rock!!
Thank you so much for making our day so special! Our family and friends were all so impressed with your professionalism and pleasant personality!
Thank you all for being part of our special day. Everything went perfect and we had such a blast celebrating our wedding in Minneapolis. Special thanks to Rev. Anna for doing such a great job officiating and bringing to life the words that we had composed for our ceremony. We couldn’t have asked for a better intimate ceremony.
And, of course, thank you to Rev. Susan for coordinating the date, and booking our officiant. Also for suggesting our venue options and referring us to HM Photography, Heidi was great! Again thank you all for helping in celebrating our Wedding Day, we couldn’t have dreamed of a better day.
Dear Rev. Anna,
I wanted to write you and tell you thank you for helping our ceremony live! I know everything was so crazy with last minute changes but we really appreciate you being our officiant! It was beautiful!
